The Haggerston

In the UK, pubs are symbolic places where all communities come together, but as a Korean woman, I found it difficult to naturally assimilate into that culture. On the contrary, I've lived an isolated life. This piece presents the reflection of the years of isolation since moving to the UK. Confused emotions amid the influence of conflicting cultures and situations are shown in my work through micro-narratives. Very personal things related to me are sometimes exposed in a surreal and ambiguous way. Through encounters with various familiar objects shown in my work, I want to break down boundaries and create a sense of solidarity and sympathy toward others.
